Usually a Scout moves to Venturers from around the age of 14 +. He/she may stay in the Troop until the age of 16. Our first Venturer Group was formed in 1980 and the first Leader was Michael Doyle. This group was quite successful eventually growing to approx.15 members.It was one of the first in the Region to go co-ed. A number of very successful expeditions were held over the years with a trip to the Isle of Man being the highlight. A number of our venturers have successfully completed Explorer Belt expeditions. These included Michael O'Brien and Pat Downing in 1989 in Wales and John O'Brien and Eamon Minihane in 1997 in Croatia.
The summer just gone we had Tadhg and Rob W complete the Venturer Challenge in Co.Kerry. Both completed all tasks to the satisfaction of the examiners.
This year we have 14 Venturers including some new faces who've just moved up from the Scout Section. The leaders are Mary and Seán.
