Beavers

Beavers are our junior section for boys and girls aged from six to eight years of age. The Colony is organised into Lodges of about six Beavers. We were the first Unit in our Region to form a Beaver Colony in 1981 and we have had Beavers since having two colonies for a number of years.

We currently have thirty Beavers and the Leaders of the Group are Sheila O'Brien, Judy O'Donovan, Catherine Tyner and Fiona O'Donovan.

Beavers Promise to "Love God and help to take care of the world" and therefore they are very interested in nature and all things to do with the environment.One of our favourite places to visit is the Donkey Sanctuary at Liscarroll Co.Cork. We go there almost every year and we have become quite friendly with some of the Donkeys who live there. Of course every year we go on a group visit to Santa at the world famous Blarney Woolen Mills. We usually combine this visit with a trip to the cinema and a restaurant for favourite Beaver food of Chips and Burgers. Last Summer we visited the model village at nearby Clonakilty.
