The Scouts followed an orienteering route around the Town ending up in Lord Bandon's park by the river. The Macaoimh hiked to the park and the Beavers were dropped up by car. In all 106 members of the Group took part in what was a great day's activities. All their families were invited. Each Beaver made the promise on the World Scout flag in front of the Leaders. A parent then placed the Group neckerchief on the new Beavers neck. The Beavers entertained their parents with some of their favourite camp fire songs. We went with JEKA. We flew Cork/Gatwick/Barcelona. during our camp we went to Port Aventura theme park, Isla Fantasia,water Park and we did water sports at Calella. We also went to the famous Monastery at Montserrat. In Barcelona we visited Nou Camp stadium amongst many other places. This album contains sub albums of photos taken by various members. On the way we stopped at an indoor playground in Midleton and met some people showing old military equipment at the army surplus store next door.. We then went to "Al's" Restaurant for a lovely meal. Fifteen Macaoimh and 4 leaders had a great time in the Centre. The climbing wall and the zip wire were great favourites. On Saturday we had a lovely hike to the Cross where we did some map and compass work. Scouts and Macaoimh camped on Friday and Saturday nights with the Beavers arriving for the day on Saturday. Plenty rain on Friday night saw some muddy Cubs and Scouts but Saturday dawned bright and clear. Plenty of activities kept everybody busy for the camp. Some groups availed of the opportunity to complete their Centenary challenges. Our Group completed 100 laps of the race course and our Beavers made 100 Rice Krispie Buns which were enjoyed by all. We had a big chocolate Birthday cake which we enjoyed and shared with Pat Roche, Provincial Commissioner and Fr. The weather for the entire camp was extremely bad with wind and rain, frost an d hailstones being thrown at our entrepid Scouts. We hiked up Knockmealdown on Saturday. The climbing wall in the Centre was very popular. The first week was spent on site at Camp Ware part of the Horseshoe Scout Reservation. During this week we followed the normal programme of the camp. Week 2 was spent touring to Hershey Park, Baltimore, Philadelphia and many other places. After that the Bandon group went to New York where we spent three days touring the sights and shopping. Although the weather was very wet for most of the camp we still managed to carry out quite a few activities, including the construction of Bivvys in the woods. the older Scouts slept out in a bivvy for one night in spite of the rain. We visited Clonmel on Saturday where we saw the Simpsons Movie, went to McDonalds and went to evening Mass during which the Priest welcomed us and said we deserved a Buala Bos for camping in such weather. Leaders included Tim, Brendan, Aoife,Sean and Donal. Venturers/leaders in the making Tadhg and Murty also took part. The weather was glorious and the craic was mighty. A very enjoyable hike was held on the Saturday.
